Following the Flame is an event celebrating the country’s record of achievement in both the Olympic and Paralymic Games in the build up to London 2012. The exhibition takes the visitor on a fascinating journey from the origins of the Olympic Games in Greece through to their demise more than eleven hundred years later, and into the important role of Britain in their re-establishment in Athens in 1896. It also looks at the birth of the Paralympic Movement, and the many significant episodes, both heroic and tragic, in its history ever since.
