Student placement opportunity assisting the Competition and Events Coordinator with the Cardiff Games and any major events that the department support in the City.

The Cardiff Games involves over 20 sports across 73 competitions for both Primary and Secondary Schools in Cardiff and the Vale. The department also supports major events in the City including but not limited to: Race for Life, Fan Zones, Cardiff 10k.

The aim of the placement will be to increase your awareness of how to organise sports competitions and major events. You will learn about logistics, health & saftey considerations and how to plan an event.

Competitions are run Monday – Friday any time from 9am until 8pm throughout the academic year.

Sports range from traditional football and netball to skiing and rock climbing.
Type of tasks involve:
1) Working with groups of pupils to take them through a sports stations 2) Logistics of equipment
3) Running the competition schedule per pitch / court
4) Officiating if confident in a specific sport.
5) Registration & money handeling (specific events only) 6) Scoring

As a result of the partnership in place between Sport Cardiff and Cardiff Met”s School of Sport please note that priority will be given to students studying sport related degrees at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
